The Sweet Iron bits are made of iron and have a recognisable blue colour. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) moisture, which tastes sweet and naturally stimulates saliva production. The horse will foam more, making it accept the bit better.
The mouthpiece with brass rings is a variant of the double jointed bit. The rings in the centre encourage the horse to play with the bit. This increases tongue activity so that the horse produces more saliva and the jaws can relax more.
The water snaffle is a standard side piece. This side piece has loose rings that allow the bit to move more freely in the mouth, which is why many horses accept this bit well. The loose rings allow the bit to be applied more indirectly. To prevent skin folds from getting between the moving rings, it is advisable to fit the bit with bit rings. Smaller rings provide more direct aids than larger rings. The smaller the rings, the more pressure is transferred to a smaller surface. A good bit for a stronger horse.
